Garnier BB Cream

Garnier BB Cream for combo/oily skin.

This is one of my favourite products at the moment, I started using the original Garnier BB cream and loved it but this new oil free version is even better for my combination skin. It feels like a tinted moisturiser on my skin but gives incredible coverage and really does disguise imperfections and redness.

So what is BB or blemish balm? It was developed originally by Dr Shrammek, a German dermatologist in the 1960’s, to protect her patients’ skin after surgery. It was introduced to South Korea and Japan in 1985, where perfect skin is prized more than anything, and it really took off. Eventually it has filtered back to the West and has gained popularity here as a “miracle” cream to even out skin tone and create the illusion of perfect skin.┬áThe coverage is often mineral-based, and is used to both cover and treat blemishes such as acne, sun spots and age spots. It also has anti-wrinkle, anti-inflammatory and soothing properties.

I don’t have brilliant skin, I have rosacea (redness), it’s oily in the middle and goes shiny during the day plus I am always breaking out in spots (hormonal, I’ll deal with that in another post!). I used to use fairly heavy foundation to cover my skin (it’s also a bit blotchy, I sound like a hag!) but this Garnier BB cream covers everything and looks so natural, it even gives me a bit of a glow!
