Homemade Lemonade

 Home-made Lemonade

Just the thought of this makes my mouth water and inspires thoughts of me sitting in the garden, the sun shining down, sunglasses on, sipping iced Homemade Lemonade.

My son (10) frequently sneaks into the kitchen and makes this without me knowing! He has ambitions of setting up stall in front of our house and selling it for a small fortune. Unfortunately, as we live in a close there is very little in the way of passing trade so we have to drink it instead!

It is really very easy to make:

6 unwaxed large lemons

150g caster sugar

3 pints water

  • Wash the lemons, use a vegetable peeler to to take the peel off one lemon then juice all 6.
  • Put the juice, pith, sugar and water into a pan and heat gently until the sugar has dissolved.
  • Leave to cool (preferably overnight) then strain into a jug or bottles.
  • Can be enjoyed neat with ice or diluted with soda water for a longer drink.
