January

January

How are those resolutions going? Slipping already? It’s not surprising; we make life so difficult for ourselves by trying to do too much. Take a step back and reassess, reorganise, delegate!

The New Year is a time to start again and for me that means some sort of house project. There is always a lot of inspiration around and it’s great to start looking forward to Spring and Summer. Getting organised is very satisfying and it doesn’t need to be time consuming, just reorganising the kids pen pots can feel good! Why not Make a Chalkboard to help keep you and your family organised?

Take a look at these storage ideas for some inspiration!

A New Year often means plans to update your home and a new kitchen is the most wanted!

Take a look at Houzz for great ideas:

Last year, French Connection launched a great homeware range and, as a follow up this year, they have introduced an upholstered range with DFS. It is inspired by the laid back, slouchy New England style and is available in 3 ranges: Chalk, Slate and Coast:

The New Year is a good time to start planning your garden for the summer, read some ideas here to help start your garden year. Plus, how about some container options for brightening up your space now.

Food Notes

A New Year is generally the time when we try to make a healthy new start. One area where families really struggle is meal time, we end up cooking several meals at different times to cope with timetables and tastes, take a leaf out of Fay Ripley’s book, Family Meals and cook just one meal.

I am also loving Annabel Karmel’s 100 Family Meals for some inspirational but very easy recipes. She is very in tune with what kids like to eat and her recipe for Fusilli with Salmon and Spring Vegetables certainly went down well with my family.

Does The Body Good

It’s cold outside and nothing is better for warming you up than soup. I love soup- it’s so simple to make but delivers a healthy and delicious meal or snack. Try this delicious recipe for Sweet Potato and Red pepper soup.

Also try Delia Smith’s Pork Stroganoff with three mustards for a lovely winter warmer recipe.

Health and Beauty Notes

A New Year encourages us to do things the “right way”, at least for a couple of weeks! Read about Natural Beauty and how you can do the very best for your skin in a totally natural way. Which ingredients are bad and which products can you trust ?
Modern diet and lifestyle can result in an incorrect balance of nutrients and one of the most talked about are Omegas 3, 6 and 9. How can we achieve the correct ratio and why is it important? Read more here.
