I can’t believe that it has now been a year since I started writing this blog. I have loved every minute of it and plan to continue and develop the subjects I post, there are so many ideas and avenues that I haven’t explored yet. If you are reading this and have any ideas for posts you would like to see then please feel free to contact me, if not via this site then I’m on Twitter and Facebook.
Mid week meals are always a challenge with 3 kids doing a variety of after school activities! I need to make something which is quick and easy to prepare, tastes good and is easy to eat in a hurry (not ideal I know but that’s life!). One of my staples is Spaghetti Bolognese and Annabel Karmel’s recipe is perfect, (it also has 5 different vegetables in it so “five a day” covered too!). A great tip is to make double the quantity and turn the sauce into a Chilli Con Carne by the simple addition of kidney beans in chilli sauce. Two meals in one!
Christmas is just around the corner and if you are anything like me, panic starts to set in when you survey the chaos family life wreaks on a home. How to get the house straight for Christmas? For little or no cost? One of my favourite sources of inspiration is Pinterest, an endless supply of great ideas to help you. Take a look at my Pinterest Inspired DIY Storage Ideas….
I am constantly looking for inspiration when it comes to the Family evening meal. Cooking for 5 people with very different tastes is no mean feat! However, when I need inspiration there is one cook book which I come back to time and time again: 100 Family Meals by Annabel Karmel. This woman is a complete genius in the cooking department! Tonight’s meal was an old favourite, Multi-layered Cottage Pie. Would you believe this has 9 different vegetables in it? Totally delicious, but healthy too!
Are you planning a bit of Christmas Shopping “internet style”? It’s so easy to surf the net, but sometimes a bit more difficult to find what you are looking for on individual websites! I’ve been looking at Cath Kidston and these are my favourite picks….
Are you proud to display your huge flat screen TV? Or would you rather it faded into the background? I guess most of us (women!) would like a happy medium; for everyday use it’s great to have the television on display, the focal point of our evenings, but when we entertain it would be nice to hide it away so our guests become the focus of our attention….read more.
In a moment of madness I decided to change the colour of my Living Room armchair covers, they were cream and I fancied a cosier wine colour for the winter. At least I have two sets of covers so if it went totally wrong I could just bin the new ones! Anyway, read the post for instructions if you fancy doing something similar, fabric dyes are really easy to use!
What do you do with all your Pumpkins which you spent so long carving? Why not make a delicious Pumpkin Pie? It’s an easy and delicious recipe. Also this (very wet!) weekend will see lots of Bonfire and Firework parties. Keep warm with some yummy soup or maybe my recipe for Sweet Potatoes and Beans, a twist on an old classic. Stay safe!
